Title: Nanak Shah Fakir
Medium: Oil Painting
Commissioner: Karendeep Kaur Basra, UK

What made Guru Nanak’s travels extraordinary was not merely their scope in that no other religious founder has journeyed so far to spread their message, but the universal embrace Guru Nanak received wherever he walked.

In Hindu temples he was welcomed as a sage; in Muslim lands he was revered as a Sufi saint. To this day, he is lovingly called "Baba Nanak Shah Fakir," a title that beautifully captures how both communities claim him as their own "Baba" reflecting Hindu reverence, "Shah Fakir" honoring his status in Islamic tradition.

Guru Nanak’s message transcends all boundaries. Through dialogue with scholars, saints and common people, he planted seeds of universal brotherhood. Whether sitting with Hindu pandits in Haridwar or discoursing with Muslim clerics in the Middle East, Guru Nanak's wisdom dissolved religious divisions.

This portrait captures more than a spiritual leader, it depicts the embodiment of humanity's shared quest for truth, a wandering mystic whose footsteps created bridges between civilisations and whose legacy continues to unite hearts across all faiths.
