Collection: Guru Tegh Bahadur 2021

While Guru Tegh Bahadur was renown for his dispassion towards the world and carefree devotion, his son, Guru Gobind Singh writes how all the wealth in the world came running to his father’s house [Ghar Nau Nidh Avai Dhaie]. The nine nidhi’s [treasures] represented the entirety of wealth and prestige, which would forever attend to the God of Wealth, Kubera, in Indic mythology. Guru Tegh Bahadur’s prominence spread across the entire subcontinent and resulted in vast amounts of wealth flowing into the Guru’s house, enabling vast amounts of charitable donations and the buying and founding of the city of Anandpur Sahib for the future generations of Sikhs.
